Lactose is the sugar found in milk and other dairy products. The intestine intestine produces an enzyme called lactase whose function is to break down lactose into two simple sugars called glucose and galactose. If your body does not produce enough lactase, the lactose naturally finds its way into the large intestine and begins to ferment, producing acids and gases.
Allergy or intolerance?

What is the difference?

These contain lactase to help the intestines, the conversion of lactose. The products come in pill or liquid form. You can also take probiotics (to antibiotics) on a regular basis. They help to produce "good bacteria" in the body, promoting good digestion and reduce your body's reaction can have foods containing lactose.

Then you should find they have no symptoms and can enjoy most of the foods you love, always in moderation, of course. If symptoms persist, there may be something more serious that requires a visit to your doctor. Learn to read your body and know when to make adjustments in your diet and nutrition.
