When we speak of the 19th century "Paris" porcelain, we think, smart. For smart indeed, was this period of design intelligent, witty.

A period of neoclassical design, the return to classical or "with great respect for classical antiquity" Historically speaking, The term has its origins in much earlier, in 1765, with the move towards the great symbol of classical Greece and Rome, inspiration, especially derived from Roman copies of Hellenistic sculptures and particularly through engravings, for example, in the forest to the ruins of Palmyra. Even Greece was all-but-not visited, seen as a backwater of the Ottoman Empire in the rough and dangerous to explore.

This neoclassical 18th century was actually derived from the "idea" of the ancient classical period. The "classic" period is generally understood as the apex of Around 500 BC the civilization Greek, with its emphasis on proportion and harmony.

Huge interest was also generated for this intelligent neoclassical the early archeology and the excavation of the Greek vases in southern Italy, which became models for new types of ceramics, ie mottled Wedgwood in England (for which John Flaxman made many designs) and Sèvres porcelain in France.

This clever design period extends through a line time from 1765 until its demise around 1830. However, during this period of approximately 65 years, constant replenishment of the development style.

Since 1796, the resulting chaos of the French Revolution began to wane to give way to it, politically unstable period known as the Directory. It was from this period of design, even with his emphasis on classic French Empire style evolved.

The period is known as the Empire, because his identification with the French Empire and the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte, emperor of France (1795 to 1815). The Napoleonic style was agrandiosised by symbols of imperial power. The Empire style originated in the desire of Napoleon to revive the luxury majesty of imperial Rome, including decoration, as in Fontainebleau, have been redesigned to include classical columns, moldings and other Greek and Roman motifs.

All French art, architecture, painting, furniture, clothing and design, including silver and porcelain, become one of the worst smart and stylish designs never seen, style toured Europe with its influence seen from London to St. Petersburg. The style has never been exceeded, characterized by its understated simplicity, moderation and purity of form.

A prominent example This period style is "Porcelain de Paris". Rarely, if ever, has the shape and decoration of European porcelain came to these quality standards.

Many are the names of the famous Paris factories, many owned by the French aristocracy families. These factories were mostly located in or near the city Paris, however, there were a number of small factories, and all decisions difficult to pulp goods that are generally known as' Paris porcelain '. These were all started after 1770, and about twenty or persons responsible for such different back and forth between then and 1830.

Much of real porcelain was actually made in Limoges and sent to Paris to be decorated. Paris is best known for its porcelain decorating small studies to produce porcelain itself.

It was on 16 June to June 19, 1815 that the Empire of Napoleon Bonaparte at Waterloo and the monarchy fell Bourbon was restored under Louis XVIII.

This period, known as the Restoration period, was mostly closely aligned with the old Empire style, formal, well aligned, elegant neoclassic.

We see the last days of classic French Empire style to 1830, with the end of the reign of Louis XVIII
