When we speak of the 19th century "Paris" porcelain, we think, smart. For smart indeed, was this period of design intelligent, witty.
A period of neoclassical design, the return to classical or "with great respect for classical antiquity" Historically speaking, The term has its origins in much earlier, in 1765, with the move towards the great symbol of classical Greece and Rome, inspiration, especially derived from Roman copies of Hellenistic sculptures and particularly through engravings, for example, in the forest to the ruins of Palmyra.
